Harmony Ramode

The Waiting Room

6 – 27 September, 2025

Opening event: 5-7 pm Friday 5 September, all welcome.

The Waiting Room explores the tension between Indigenous knowledge and modern Australian healthcare. The paintings reflect on urban dwelling, dominating agricultural systems, finite resources, and the needs of our land and our First Peoples being dismissed.

Harmony Ramode is an artist from Meanjin (Brisbane) with Gamilaraay, Celtic, and Slavic ancestry. Their practice explores First Nations biopolitics in the context of colonisation, often expressed through humour, absurdity, and non-linear storytelling. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Ramode creates vibrant, cartoon-like paintings that draw viewers in with bold, playful symbolism before subverting expectations to reveal deeper political truths.
